Only a single manuscript of this work is known to exist.
Written in 1434, Muhammad al-Ali’s Treatise on the Wonders of Astronomy unites astronomy,
geography, cosmology, and medieval systems of knowledge within one intellectual structure.
In spirit, it belongs to that vanished world in which scientific inquiry and metaphysical
imagination still formed part of a unified vision of reality.
The manuscript survived across centuries through the hands of collectors before ultimately
entering the collections of the National Library in Warsaw. Its rarity places it beyond ordinary
bibliophilic categories.
This facsimile edition was conceived not merely as publication, but as preservation and
transmission. Through it, a work otherwise inaccessible to nearly all readers regains physical
presence within the contemporary world.
Printed on handmade paper and bound entirely by hand in natural leather, the edition
preserves the scale, rhythm, and visual atmosphere of the original manuscript while
maintaining the dignity proper to a collector’s facsimile.
Only twenty-five numbered copies were produced. Each is accompanied by formal notarial
certification.
The edition remains available only through private enquiry and is presented selectively to
collectors and institutions concerned with manuscript heritage, Islamic scholarship, and the
history of cosmological thought.
