Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

Khalil Gibran’s The Prophet belongs to that rare category of works which pass quietly from
literature into personal memory. Structured as a sequence of reflections on love, work,
freedom, sorrow, joy, and human destiny, the text has retained its unusual intimacy across
generations and cultures.
This collector’s edition approaches the work not as a modern bestseller, but as a
contemplative classic. The language of the edition therefore remains restrained, meditative,
and tactile.
Eight original linocuts by Sławomir Chrystow accompany the text, forming an independent
visual cycle entitled Our Journey. Rather than illustrating the narrative literally, the graphics
create a parallel rhythm of passage, silence, distance, and return. Twenty-eight initials, hand-
printed on enduring mulberry Xuan paper and enriched through the ebru marbling technique,
introduce subtle variation throughout the volume.
Each of the forty-five copies was bound individually according to a distinct artistic concept
developed within our atelier. No two bindings are identical. Their tonal structures respond to
the papers, the blacks of the linocuts, and the inward atmosphere of the text itself.
Printed on Ambra cotton paper and issued in strictly limited form, the edition was conceived
for private libraries shaped not by quantity, but by permanence and inward significance.
Selected copies entered private collections immediately following publication. Additional
