This multilingual Christmas carol songbook was conceived for moments of gathering: winter
evenings, candlelight, family voices, and the fragile continuity of tradition carried through
song. Small enough to be held easily in the hand, the volume was designed to accompany
rather than dominate the occasion.
Printed in Polish, French, and English, the edition required an unusual musical solution.
Because the English version of Silent Night differs structurally from the Polish and French
texts, a special notation system was developed so that successive transparent pages could
align rhythmically with the same score.
Bound in silk and leather and printed on artistic and handmade papers, the edition draws
discreetly upon the visual atmosphere of medieval graduals and devotional manuscripts. The
first twenty copies were executed as jewellery bindings.
Rather than functioning merely as a seasonal object, the work was conceived as a
ceremonial family volume — one intended to return year after year within private domestic
tradition.
The edition is rarely presented publicly and remains available primarily through private
correspondence.
